But the car has been on sale in Europe since last year, so there’s little need to imagine what the photo teases.
The photo, for what it’s worth, shows the ID. Buzz’s headlights and the light bar that connects them surrounding a lighted VW logo. It looks – well, it looks exactly like the European model.
We don’t expect the U.S. version of the van to be a precise twin of the one on sale in Europe. Volkswagen has said the American edition will ride on a long wheelbase and get three rows of seating. Europeans get a shorter version with just two rows and an optional cargo van edition.
The ID. Buzz takes its inspiration from the classic Volkswagen Type 2, which has long been nicknamed the microbus. But the new version is electric, sharing much of its architecture with the ID.4 SUV.
We expect to learn more, including prices, when it appears at a special event in Huntington Beach, California, this Friday.
